Introduction
The Book of Mark is the oldest of the gospels and the simplest. It is the story of Christ written by a common man for
the common people. It reads more like a wonderful stage play than the other gospels. In that it follows this mysterious man,
as he wonders the countryside performing good acts and teaching the Jewish scripture. No one but the demons he cast out seems
to truly know who the man is and he rebukes them to silence. Only at the very end when the man has been alive for 6 hours
on the cross does a roman soldier proclaim, “This truly is the Son of God.”
In a university library in a time when I had lost touch, it seemed, with my faith. I was stumbling through Eastern,
and Greek philosophy along with the Koran and found it striking how similar the teachings were to the sayings and knowledge
of King Solomon and Jesus that I was personally familiar with. In this study I found a copy of the Old Testament in simple
book form.
As I read I found new life to the old stories with I was taught and tried to study in my younger years. I found that
although the verse and chapter set-up of the King James version of the Bible was fine for study and reference; seeing the
text in simple book form brought a humanity to the scripture that I (very surprisingly) had very seen. Before I knew it I
had read three books of Moses, which previously would have taken me weeks it seemed. And my understanding of the pure text
was refreshed. The scripture became more like scripture and less like school text which were to be memorized and recited.
I became so intrigued with this I search for a copy of the gospels in this form and could not find one. So I decided to copy
it myself.
Therefore the copy of the Gospel According to Mark which I present here
is without verse numbers and Chapter breaks to preserve the continuity of the story itself. I hope to have a copy of the most
complete gospel; the Gospel of Luke Finished in the near future. Feel free to download and copy the text as you wish the Lord’s
word is free for all. I hope you enjoy. And if you are lost as I was, hopefully this will help you find your personal faith
once again.
